CTE is an Escrima system which is founded in 2001 by Charles Goossens, Paul Pauwels, Walter Goossens and Tim Waterschoot. This System is their personal expression of practicing Escrima and the Filipino Martial Arts.
The Association of Cinco Tero Escrima (ACTE) is very proud to be officially recognised by the International Kali Arnis Eskrima Federation. All Cinco Tero Escrima students are a member of the IKAEF.
The CTE System is mainly based upon the teachings and the program of the BIFF Escrima System (British International Fighters Federation, founded and developed by Mr. Jay Dobrin).
Charles, Paul, Walter and Tim are all certified Instructors within the BIFF.
CTE is a Medium fighting range (Medio) Escrima System (based on a bladed fighting art), but also contains other fighting ranges such as: long range (Largo), Close Range (Corto) and empty hand fighting range (Cadena de mano).
CTE also contains concepts of several Filipino Martial Arts and other Martial Arts, which Charles, Paul, Walter and Tim made (and still make) through their training and experience. Such as Filipino Boxing (Panantukan), Filipino Kickboxing (Sikaran), Grappling (Dumog)
Charles, Paul, Walter and Tim first studied BIFF Escrima with Senior Instructor Kaj Westersund and Instructor Esa Halminen. At the current moment the continue their studying with the BIFF Chief Instructor, Jay Dobrin.
They also trained and learned a lot with Punong Guro Jeff Espinous and Punong Guro Johan Skällberg of the IKAEF (International Kali Arnis Eskrima Federation) and IKSA (International Kali Sikaran Association). Punong Guro Espinous and Punong Guro Skällberg influenced the knowledge of Charles, Paul, Walter and Tim a lot. They also helped (and still do) to develop and promote Cinco Tero Escrima.
Charles and Paul are both Madunong Guro within the IKAEF.
