Paul has more then 30 years experience in Ju-Jitsu and Karate. He is also more then 12 years involved with Escrima. For several times he was Belgian and European champion in the duo-games (Ju-Jitsu).
Later he was on a regular basis member of the jury with the duo-games and referee with the fighting-system. He has been asked regularly as a teacher, both in Belgium and abroad. He is a active member of the technical committee of the Flemish Ju-Jitsu Federation (VJJF)and has been appointed federal teacher within this federation for several programme-items. At the moment Paul has the Trainer A Diploma recognised by the Belgian government (BLOSO).
In 1992 he met Vince Morris with whom he studied Kyushu-Jutsu. And he was appointed to be the Continental Representative of the International Institute for Kyushu Jutsu Research (IIKR).

The year before, in 1991, he had met Kaj Westersund (Senior Instructor BIFF) and Esa Halminen (Instructor BIFF), who were in Belgium for the first time to introduce and teach Escrima on an International Martial Arts Seminar organised by Marleen De Craecker and Bob Waterschoot.
Ever since, Escrima has become part of his (Budo-)life which has resulted in, the first and only Belgian published, Escrima book: Which is a syllabus of the BIFF training program.
Later on, in the early 90s, he started to study other Filipino Martial Arts within the IKAEF (Headed by Punong Guro Jeff Espinous an Punong Guro Johan Skallberg), which he is still doing.
Besides reaching regularly in his club, he also teaches self-defence on a private basis, as well as to police-officers in the Police Academy. Together with his wife Marlene (also a black belt and Escrimador), he teaches self-defence in schools, woman’s and other organisations.
