Charles started training FMA in 1993 with his first teacher, Marleen De Craecker, in Waasmunster. Besides his regular
training during the week, he trained two times a year intensive seminars with Senior BIFF Instructor Kaj Westersund and his assistant Esa Halminen. In 1994, the Chief Instructor of the BIFF-Escrima system "Mr. Jay Dobrin" came twice to Belgium.
At the second seminar with Jay at the end of ´94, Charles would achieve his first grade in Escrima.
April of that same year, he met on a International Seminar "Jeff Espinous", Jeff would become the next Teacher in FMA who
had great influence on Charles his knowledge.

By training with Jeff Espinous regulary at IKAEF seminars, Charles would not only gain knowledge but also gradings. In 1998 he achieved the Kasama title and in 1999 the Kadua Guro title. This title gave him officially the right to teach FMA and was awarded to him during the First IKAEF Summercamp in Valoir, France.)
At the same summercamp Charles met and trained with Masirib Guro Emmanuel Hart and Guro Jon C. Ward in the Inayan Eskrima System.

Around 2000 Charles started his own Escrima group in Gent-Brugge. Also in this year, Charles, got, thanks to Simone Schlötels, the opportunity to train with Sursuro Mike Inay at a seminar in Aachen, Germany.

In 2001, Charles went to Finland and trained toghether with Walter, Tim and Paul with Kaj Westersund for a whole week, Achieving his Instructorship in BIFF-Escrima.
A few months later Charles will, togheter with Paul, Walter and Tim, develop the "Cinco Tero Escrima System".


Pangulong Guro Charles Goossens

In 2002, Marleen De Craecker retires teaching Escrima in Waasmunster due to a severe knee injury. At this time Charles comes back to his roots and takes over the Escrima group in Waasmunster, calling his Club "Dalawang Escrima Waasmunster", teaching BIFF-Escrima and the IKAEF program.

At the IKAEF Summercamp in 2003, Charles is awarded the "Madunong Guro" title in the IKAEF.

In June 2004, during a Seminar that Charles and Tim Hosted with Jay Dobrin, Jay Has awarded Charles the 2nd Level BIFF-Escrima.

After 4 years Charles is awarded The trird degree "blackbelt" (Katulong Guro) at the Eastern camp in Cologne in the IKAEF program.

Charles teaches CTE every wednesday en friday in Deurne (>> more information)
